The article give us the material about Euphemism

Euphemism is good language style in social communication, we have do it everyday   wherever we are. But, we must know it can be used in certain  communities becouse it is not only the expression received by society , but also style of language imitated in certain environment in all aspect , such as social and politic, religius, culture, and traditional morality and all of this refers to social culture. According to Enrigh 1985,p.29 “ A language without Euphemismwould be a defective instrument of communication. So, a language becomes dull and looks rude without euphemism.

Euphemism comes from the Greek word, Eu is well and Pheme means speaking . In general meaning, it is word or frase or communication style which are used in specific condition or conceal something unpleasant. Briefly, Euphemism is the way how to speak why? Becouse, it may be that someone will talk about something uncomfortable but with euphemism will speak  well. According to The New Oxford Dictionary of English, 1998, p. 634 “Uepihemism is a mild or inddirect word or expression substitud for one considered to be to harsh or blunt when referring to something unpleasant or embarrassing. And it can be said it is useful in our daily life.

RQ:

Is it  important Uephemism in the society ?

To answer this question, the researcher uses experience and library research method

There are two bacic functions of uephemism the “function of concealing” and or the “function of veiling”. The distinction between the two functions is problematic because the two verbs used to name them are synonymous. In fact, a single euphemism can simultaneously fulfill both functions in discourse.

Function of concealing

In this function, euphemism is very useful to evoid certain aspect of a word or concept that can violate the norm, for example” war “ we can say “ crisis” intervention we can say question. This euphemism depend on base of soft , to hiden the word but it does not make it lose for the meaning

Function of veiling

In this fuction, euphemism can fulfil the purpose and change to the reality segment so, euphemism show the fact that attention from the listener is chosed by speaker, it is concern to the speaker. The example of this can we find out from newspaper.

There are two reason use euphemism

1.Base of psychologically reason

This is connect to face during communication, respect betwen each other or based on embarrassment, fear based and courtesy to others.it can use for data processing information.

2. .A Balance Between Efficiency and Expressivity in Communication

When the speaker speak, the first purpose  is communicate with use the good strategy to make the efficient communication. We can see the magic of euphemism when we used in communication.

Strengthen of this article is:

The author can explain in sentences more clearly and easy to understand about Euphemism. It is really important used in our society,sSo many thing that we have to concern during communication you can see my reviewartcle  above. It is  upsolutely, we must use it in our life.

Weakness of this articles :

Fortunatly in this article, there is no clearly example in sentences and how to use in dayly activity in life. It’s a little bit dificult becouse it is not show us in ccommunication.

The resercher is really nice to compile all the data in this article and take reference from experts who give good explanation about Euphemism. The use of euphemism varies with the gender, age,social status and occupation and cover various aspects of sosial culture, including social conventions, traditional morality, religion, cocial value and politics etc. However, it is not make us more satisfaction becouse it is less example that we can use in our society.
